Blackstar Valve Distortion creates gritty saturated tones, using transistors to mimic distortion. It runs the internal valves at high voltages - over 200VT. The valve provides natural "break-up" and compression that feels like a real amp. With the "cascaded" gain stages, the signal passes through multiple parts of the tube to build up layers of distortion, ranging from warm bluesy tones to heavy metal saturation
